Nissan North America
1991-2007

Dierdre Francis-Dickerson was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York in a neighborhood filled with people, food and cultures from around the world.

While a Journalism major at Northeastern University in Boston, she began her career in broadcasting at WGBH-TV. After graduation, she held various production and on-air positions at TV stations throughout the country eventually landing in Los Angeles at KCET-TV.

Francis-Dickerson eventually married and had two children and began to seque from a broadcast career to one in public relations.  She held positions at global PR giant Edelman and subsequently went on to start her own marketing and public relations company working with clients that included AT&T, Nestle and Coors.

A fortuitous meeting with the head of communications for Nissan North America led to yet another career change when she accepted a position with the global automotive company.  She decided to continue her work with Nissan and moved with the company once it decided to move its corporate headquarters from Los Angeles to Nashville.

Now retired, she has been able to indulge her love of art by volunteering at the Frist Museum and by taking as many pottery classes as possible.  She also works part-time at a job that doesn’t require her to sleep with her cell phone so she can answer emails at any time of the day or night.
