FAQ

IS THE LIGHTWORK AWARDS A COMPETITION?

No. This is not a contest. We’re using the pop-culture vehicle of an “awards show” to serve as a grand “coming out party” for the community of Light. It’s an awards show where no one loses. Our intention is to bring together an incredible ensemble of Lightworkers who can demonstrate their talents as healers, artists, musicians, storytellers and performers, to bless the community through the sharing of their gifts. Nominations provide an opportunity to discover the diverse array of Lightwork taking place in our world today, and serves as a vetting process through which we can curate and cast a multi-faceted show. If we called it the “Lightwork Showcase” it wouldn’t have quite the same pop and fizz. We feel calling it the “LWA’s” gives Lightwork a chance to break into the mainstream. If the Lightworkers of today don’t come together and boldly proclaim to the next generation that authenticity and kindness matter, who will?

HOW ARE NOMINEES SELECTED?

Our 2020 Nominees were nominated by members of The Nashville Lightworker Meetup as well as the general public. After reviewing eligible nomination forms, conducting interviews, and further vetting each candidate, the Organizer Team made formal recommendations for Nomination, for which a unanimous vote was required. Nominees are selected based on a combination of their achievements in their realm of Lightwork, contributions to the Lightworker community, professionalism, poise, and ability to work as a team.

WHAT DO HONOREES RECEIVE AS AN AWARD?

Those who participate in the final show, will be honored with a generous gift box of gratitude from the community - Lightworkers supporting Lightworkers. To get the scoop on the kinds of goods being gifted to our Nominees, please follow us on social media using the buttons located at the top or bottom of this page.

If you’d like to make a monetary or material contribution to our Nominee gratitude boxes, please contact us. Honorees will also receive an “award” object to be unveiled at the gala.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

We want your Light! Contact us if you're interested in sponsoring, helping to fundraise or would like to volunteer. We have openings for volunteers in executive, creative and day-of-event roles that we're looking to fill as soon as possible. Join an incredibly dedicated team and become part of making history with us!

IS THE LIGHTWORK AWARDS A NON-PROFIT AND ARE MY CONTRIBUTIONS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

We are a group of volunteers who felt the call and came together to make a dream community arts project come true. One hundred percent of contributions goes directly toward the costs of running the show. The success of the show on 2/23/2020 will determine the viability for next steps in the establishment of a more permanent structure to support the Lightwork Awards into the future. Therefore, we appreciate any and all support to help make our debut a success! Unfortunately, without non-profit status, contributions are not tax deductible.

IS THE LIGHTWORK AWARDS AFFILIATED WITH ANY RELIGIOUS GROUPS?

No. Lightwork is universal. We define Lightwork as actions motivated by kindness that uplift and serve the community, planet and greater good. Those who make a practice of these actions are Lightworkers - and they may be from any religious background or walk of life. All Lightworkers share in common the belief that Love is the most powerful force for good in our world.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Dress radiantly. This is a grand “coming out party” for Lightworkers. Wear what you feel captures and radiates your inner Light. If you’re a shaman, this is the time and place where you will not only feel welcomed, but celebrated in dressing in your traditional garb. If you wish to wear a tux, this is your chance to fasten your cummerbund and bow tie. If you consider yourself an Earth Angel, this is the event to wear your sparkles and your wings. Light comes in all colors of the rainbow, let’s see how brilliantly we can shine.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Adults only. Our venue, The Back Corner at 5th & Taylor, is an event space and bar in Germantown, Nashville, TN, where alcohol will be served.
